The FHU TRANSLAD multidisciplinary team has designed a series of training programmes for health professionals, on various subjects of potential relevance to persons with disability.
- Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April 2018 “Offering support in the emotional, private and sexual lives of children, adolescents and adults affected with motor and mental disability and intellectual disorder: a shared theoretical, ethical, educational and institutional approach”, animated by Sheila Warembourg, a registered sexologist and Public Health Practitioner.
This training was for the purpose of helping professionals acquire the knowledge and methods necessary to improve supportive care in the emotional, private and sexual lives of children, adolescents and adults affected with various disabilities and having differing levels of dependency, by way of theoretical concepts on sexology, French legislation, an examination of daily practices and an understanding of the specific implications of this private life in home (with family or independently), school, assisted-living, business or social settings. Participants consequently acquire the basics for tackling these topics when interviewing patients.
This training brought together 17 professionals (psychologists, social workers, doctors, marriage counsellors, special needs teachers, etc.).
