Theatre shows for families

Two improvisation theatre shows have already been put on. The first was for adult patients with genetic diseases or patents of sick children; the second was for children with genetic diseases who could attend with their siblings and parents. The idea is basically the same each time: on arrival, spectators write or draw on a piece of paper a thematic representation of their personal experience with disability. The 4 improvisers then randomly pick a theme from among the suggestions and stage an amazing improvisation employing comedy, off-beat humour, poetry, etc. It is truly an occasion for catharsis where everyone can recharge their batteries through laughter and the amazing creativity of the actors. It is also a time for sharing, when almost imperceptibly and in a seemingly light-hearted manner profound, painful, sometimes serious issues will be raised.

Wednesday 26 November 2014: an improvisation theatre show for adults

Psychologist Lorraine Joly and social worker Emilie Schmitt wanted to do something different by inviting single adults and couples, either of whom may be suffering from a rare disease or may have a child with a rare disease, to an improvisation theatre show on Wednesday 26 November 2014, at Petit Théâtre des Prairies in QUETIGNY. The idea was to spend time outside of the hospital setting, discussing person experiences with disabilities in all areas of life, and to have this opportunity to view them differently through various improvisations by professional actors.

Saturday 17 September 2016: an improvisation theatre show for children

This matinee event was organised by the genetics centre, with the involvement of the same professional actors, for families (parents and children over the age of 7) affected by a rare disease, with the idea of talking about disability outside of the hospital setting.
